WP Multisite Directories "Error establishing a database connection"

    Hello. I have created a WordPress Multisite, fresh install, no plugins, and tried to create the MS with Sub-Directories.

    You can see the site at https://www.vcw.pw and the sub at https://www.vcw.pw/vcfa

    As you can see, I get the “Error establishing a database connection” message.

    This site is not a root domain. It is an add-on domain.

    Please help

    Disregard. These forums work WAY to slow to be of use here.

    The issue was that for some reason the config.php file was defaulting the collation of the MySQL as utf8mb4 in stead of just utf8. I resolved the issue by deleting the database, changing the config file and uploading it before running the “install”.
