I used to use wpmu-functions.php to change the following on new blogs (sites):

    1) About to About Me
    2) Add a page called Report a Problem and add content
    3) Modify the default links

I’ve looked around to no avail, any ideas where I might be able to modify these?

From what I’ve read everything that was in wp-includes/wpmu-functions.php is now in the wp-includes/ms-functions.php file and /ms-blogs.php file however this obviously isn’t the case.

    Sorry I should have specified – I’m using WP3

Many thanks andrea_r unfortunately it doesn’t appear to be WP3 compatible (only up to 2.9.2). A forum post says everything bar links modification seems to work, but that’s pretty key. It’s a sizeable site we’re running and anything that isn’t 100% solid can’t go on .

For the sake of compatibility and slow plugin updates etc the solution should preferably involve manually modifying a file rather than plugins.

Does no one know how WP3 was developed?

I’ve also found that the theme folder named default is no longer the default. Therefore if I remove the default theme and rename MyOne to default like before it doesn’t work, the site simply doesn’t function. Therefore default theme is twentyten. Can’t rename default (formerly MyOne) to twentyten as blogs already link to ‘default’. So there’s now a copy of default (MyOne) called twentyten. This should only be a temporary fix so does anyone know of a way of changing the default theme?

    Yes.

And rather than renaming folders that will get wiped out on upgrades, again – use the new blog defaults plugin listed above. Even if it hasn’t been updated yet, it will be soon.

Or, strip out the parts you want from that plugin.

Also, if there are blogs already using a theme in the /default/ folder, swapping that with another one will fail. Because in each blog’s db options, there are *two* fields filled out for the theme they have, one of which looks at the stylesheet name (also called default).
