The 2.9.8 update that was released on 1/21 added a new parameter to the login page shortcode. This actually introduced a bug into the process. 2.9.8.1 patches that issue.

If you updated to 2.9.8 and your site makes use of the [wp-members page=login] shortcode, you should update to 2.9.8.1.

  • I updated to version 2.9.8.1 yesterday evening and now I can’t access my member’s site, either directly or through the dashboard. I get a 500 error message:

    Most likely causes:
    ?The website is under maintenance.
?The website has a programming error.

What can I do to fix this? Should I revert back to my earlier version or is there a simple fix to the php code to let this function?

    Thanks for your help.

This is unlikely to be caused by the plugin, although with the way 500 errors work, it’s hard to say unless you look at the server log. Details and resolution are on this post.
