    Dear Author,

I was using your plugin for the creation of a timeline on my website. The announcements seem to work fine, but when this plugin is activated I have noticed that the media-upload function in wordpress breaks down. I can’t upload or edit media files.

I am actually surprised by this, because I haven’t noticed this error before, until yesterday. It can very well be an issue with another plugin, but when I deactivate the timeline plugin my wordpress functionality returns to normal.

I have read other posts on this topic (the media upload error), and some say it has to do with google gears (older posts of users who use mozilla firefox). That would be a browser plugin, that might have been updated bij it’s creator and now interferes with the media upload function in wordpress. I am using google chrome end can’t find any gears reference in my browser-plugins anywhere. So I have disabled my google docs browser pluging, with no success.

Please let me know if you need more information for example a list of plugins that I am using.

Your help and efforts are much appreciated.

    Best regards,

    Bart

    Hi Bart,

I have the timeline installed on a few sites, and don’t have an issue with the media uploader on any of them, so this sounds like a conflict with another plugin.

I don’t think it is directly related to a specific plugin or browser extension, but I know the media uploader tends to break when two plugins or your theme and the plugin conflict with eachother.

It’s most likely related to this file, which generates the tinyMCE button inside of your post editor, both on the page and post edit screens : https://github.com/EvanHerman/Timeline-Express/blob/master/js/timeline-express-button-script.js

If you hit F12 on the post or page edit screen, and check the ‘console’ tab of the developer console that pops up. You will most likely see a red JavaScript error, which is typical when the media uploader not working properly.

Are you using a custom theme or plugin that is generating custom meta boxes inside of your posts or pages? I’d be interested to see if you deactivated some other plugins, if the media uploader would start working. I’d also be interested to know which plugin (or theme) it was so I can figure out what’s going on.

    Thanks,
    Evan

    Hi Evan,

Thanks for your reply and my apologies for this slow response. It turns out your plugin is not at all the problem.

I was getting this error due to some issues with my multisite install.

    Best regards,

    Bart

    Ah,

No problem at all. Thanks for getting back to me to let me know what the issue was. Glad you were able to get that resolved.

    All the best,
    Evan
