I’m using the previous version of WP and using WP-Cron. I”ve read and re-read the Setting Up Blog by Email article but I’m obviously still missing something. I’ve sent 2 messages to the user I set up for this and the message are sitting in the mailbox at the host.

So I am getting emails from my host with the subject line:wp-mail error
    and the message:
Ooops POP3: premature NOOP OK, NOT an RFC 1939 Compliant server

Does this mean that my host site does not support it? Or what am I doing wrong?

    Thanks.

Got it! The Troubleshooting section of the Blog by Email article notes this error, but when I looked at the the file in question I saw that the line in question already had an exclamation point.

Took a much closer examination of the code to find that there are two similar lines one of which did NOT have the exclamation point.

Am now getting my emailed posts.
