Wp-login.php loads extremely slow. Sometimes even more than 4 minutes.

    Suddenly my login page is extremely slow. I didn’t do any updates, or anything. I can’t figure out why this is happening, and why it’s only happening to wp-login.php

    The load time latency can go up to 4 minutes.

    I tried renaming the file, i’ve tried another copy of wp-login.php from another WP-Site. Also disabled the “Limit Login Attempts” plugin.

    I just can’t figure it out.

    – Limit Login Attempts
    – Contact Form 7

    Has anyone had this issue before, and if so, how to fix it?

  • What’s your server traffic like? It may be you’re experiencing a brute-force attack on your login page thus leading to the slow server response time – the server may be handling more requests then normal.

    Thanks for the response Bemdesign,

    I’ve looked at the server traffic, it’s very low. Sept 1st till now (3rd) bandwidth is 65973 KBytes. Also brute force is monitored, and above 100 the IP address gets blocked for a month.
    So this cant be the problem.
