• How can I change WP login page “Username” to “Username or Email Address” without plugins and changing the core files?

  • That’s strange, all of my sites already say “Username or Email” on the login page, and I don’t remember having to change anything.

So, no solution for that problem?

No, I can’t see how anyone would change that without making a change to the core files or using a plugin. There is certainly no WordPress option to change the wording. Why are you hesitant to use a plugin? There are certainly many plugins that allow you to create a custom login page, or to customize the WordPress login page.

Because it’s feeling little bit stupid to add one more extra plugin just for adding one word.

wp-login.php shows Username and Email, but https://antitrail.com/login won’t show. That’s strane.

OK, well that clears up a lot of questions, I thought you were referring to the standard WordPress login page (wp-login.php). So I would first look through your Pages to see if you have a Login page defined and look there. If not, it looks like the site is using a plugin called Memberpress, which, from what I can tell from their tour, has a “front-end login page.” If you determine that it is a Memberpress problem, then you should contact Memberpress support to see if they have an answer to your question.
