/wp-json/wp/v2/ Failed to load resource: 500 (Internal Server Error)

I inherited a multisite wordpress instance that uses the following plugins:

ACF to REST API, ACF, WP REST API, WP REST API – Meta Endpoints,

I am running into an error: /wp-json/wp/v2/ Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 500 (Internal Server Error)

{“code”:”error”,”message”:”You must be logged in to access the API”,”data”:null}

I removed multisite functionality and the issue disappeared. It works on the parent site but it seems like the subsites cannot find the javascript needed or permissions necessary to run.

Any pointers in the right direction are greatly appreciated!
