Thanks for updating WP Job Manager!
We’ve encountered these 4 issues so far:

    1. Tested the latest update on our staging site and none of the Company Logos display. Noticed the logo upload has moved from the Job Data area to the right sidebar. Added the logo via the sidebar and this corrected the issue. Problem is we have between 50-150 jobs at any given time, and now must manually update each individual job. Is there a work-around for this? The update totally deletes the link between the job listing and company logo in the medial library. Had we updated the live site, this would be a real headache! As is, we cannot run this update on live site.

    2. We have Jobs set to NOT display if “Position Filled, this seems to work as expected, except for Jobs marked as Featured. These remain in the featured area only, but when users visit that featured job “This position is filled.” is displayed. Recruites/Job owners must mark a job as “Filled” and also de-select “Featured Job”. This quickly becomes another house keeping issue, that took some testing to track down. Plus, until corrected, it’s not the best user experience for candidates–Featured Jobs that are Filled? (Actually, this is unrelated to the 1.24 update, as we’ve just verified it also exist in 1.23.13.)

    3. Geo Map & Full job listing: Just noticed this one. Geo map only displays the number of jobs and location markers based on the number of jobs initially displayed in the partial list below.(These numbers go up with each “load new listing”. But we’d like the geo map to display the total number of jobs at each location. Our geo map initially only displays 3 locations and 17 jobs, when we actually have 8 locations with 75+ jobs! This board is for a single employer with many jobs in multiple-locations, with several internal recruiters.

    4. FYI–We did not Immediately notice this, but after the update our homepage Slider Revolution was replaced with the default geo map. Once this came to our attention simply updating the homepage corrected the issue., but thought you should know none-the-less.

This install is running WP Job Manager + Premium plugins, Jobify, Gravity Forms, Revolution Slider.

    Thanks for your support!

Are you submitting jobs via the backend, on the Job Listings > Add New page? WP Job Manager is designed so that you should use the frontend to submit and edit listings, not the backend pages.

Can you confirm that the issue with logos also happens when submitting a job via the frontend job submission form?

We have Jobs set to NOT display if “Position Filled, this seems to work as expected, except for Jobs marked as Featured. These remain in the featured area only, but when users visit that featured job “This position is filled.” is displayed.

I cannot reproduce this. I had a featured job on my test site, manually marked it as filled, and it disappeared from the listings.

Do you have any custom code or other plugins that might be affecting the jobs? Can you disable all of your other plugins except WP Job Manager and try this again? Does it still not work correctly?

Geo Map & Full job listing

This is something you’ll need to contact your theme’s author about. WP Job Manager does not include a map by default, so I’m not familiar with how your theme is adding it or how it works. Reach out to theme for assistance with the map.

    Thanks! ??

I think I wasn’t clear, so let me try again:

-We already have about 125 job in our system.
-We us WPJM for a corporate Job Board so there is only 1 company.
-This company has 8 locations in North America
-Only 1 HR staffer posts all jobs
-About 7-10 recruiters each manage their own subset of these posted jobs.
-At this point all current active jobs openings have been pre-loaded using the backend.
-We use the “company logo field” to select 1 of 15 “job category icons”
-We can’t do this on the front end because the media library would be overrun with an ever growing collection of duplicate “category icons”.
-We use the back-end Job Listings>Add New menu and it works great! Much quicker and a lot more sorting options and viewing functions than is possible on the front-end.
-All our Jobs were about 98% ready to go Live, so I tested the new update on our staging site to confirm it won’t “break” anything.
-But company Logos/category icons are now all broken, apparently because logo URL/file paths are not the same anymore, probably because logo field is no longer a part of the Job Date set, but is in the sidebar instead.
-Uploading the logos via the front end doesn’t address the issue because the update apparently “broke” an existing function of the Job Date area.
-We’ve already confirmed the Logo can be re-uploaded manually via the backend, or front-end. Just concerned an update significantly altered already existing Job Meta Data, that now has to be manually updated one job at a time!
-We are a week or so from going live after months of development, and we’re hoping there’s a fix for this.

Prior to the latest update WPJM finds the logo/icon here:
    Image URL /wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2016/01/General-Professional_icon.png

Following the latest update WPJM thinks the Logo/Icon is here:
The requested URL /wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2016/01/General-Professional_icon-thumbnail.png was not found on this server.

In previous version the sidebar image uploader was called “Featured Image” and it did nothing. The new company logo field now occupies that area.

So to be clear, I have two versions now running side-by-side 1.24 & 1.23.13. The first displays no company logos the second display all company logos. The only change is the new version of the plugin.

Hope this is clearer this time around.
Thank you for your quick response today! Much appreciated.

Just to be clear, ‘company logos’ have always been uploaded to your media library. The only change here is now we don’t store the URL to the logo, we store the attachment ID.

Uploading the logos via the front end doesn’t address the issue because the update apparently “broke” an existing function of the Job Date area.

The field in job data is gone. Set the featured image in the sidebar. You do not need to upload a new image each time. There is a link to choose an image from your media library.

    So select one and save.

Existing jobs will continue to use the URL you previously provided – its backwards compatible.

    Thanks Mike and Adam

Unfortunately, the scope of the issue has expanded.

    1. Rolled my non-updated dev site back to the staging site and everything reset back to normal–meaning as it has been for the last several months with Company Logos/icons
    working a expected.

    2. Updated only the latest WPJM plugin on staging, and for all 125 “existing jobs” the company logos broke–no backwards compatibility!

3 Selected one job, and using the new Company Logo sidebar field, selected the appropriate logo/icon from the Media Library, loaded it to the job, published, viewed the job, and the logo was properly placed on the job page as expected.

    4. Edited the job to mark is as “Featured”, published and visited the job board homepage.

    5. That Featured Job now displays a huge Company Logo that totally breaks the homepage Featured Jobs area. (Never since working with WPJM have “Featured Jobs” displayed with Company Logos on the homepage!) Plus, the company logo is much larger in the featured job area than it is on the actual full job listing page–tiny job blurb, giant logo?

    6. Edited the now “Featured Job” again and marked it as “Filled” and saved, but the job remains visible in Featured Jobs area–but NOT in the full jobs list or in job searches! This is the case on both new v1.24 and previous v.1.23.13!

Marking a job as “Featured” seems to have priority over a job being marked “Filled” and “Filled Jobs” being set to “Not Display” in Job Listings > Settings.
Fortunately this is just a matter of on-checking the “featured” box when you check a job as filled–so not a major issue. (We’ve tested if this is also true for “Expired Jobs”, and it’s not–expired featured jobs do NOT display.)

Screen shot link below Featured, expired job with big logo!

    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/48929837/Feature%3AExpired%20Job%20with%20Big%20logo.tiff

    7. I then ran the latest Jobify theme updater hoping that would correct Icon being used in the featured jobs, but it did not change that issue.

We were resigned to manually updating the logos/icons for 125 already active jobs, but this new Featured Job/ Company Logo issue makes it a bigger, long term issue.

This totally new implementation–of what was a very small job meta data field–has become a project setback on this end.

Thanks for looking into this further, we look forward to working with you to resolve this.

PS–Once we the learned the ropes, working with this plugin and the premium add-ons has been great! It really is a dynamo of job board engine! So we’re confident this will be resolved. Thx!

    Plugin Author Mike Jolley (a11n)

    (@mikejolley)

What version of Jobify are you actually running?

    = 2.0.8: February 5, 2015 =
Fix: WP Job Manager 1.24.0 compatibility.

There definitely is backwards compatibility or this update wouldn’t have been deployed. See https://github.com/Automattic/WP-Job-Manager/blob/master/wp-job-manager-template.php#L342-L348

That said, Jobify may have its own handling for images.

Running Jobify 2.08. Site is part of a WP multi-site install.

No luck getting the Company Logos to automatically work with WPJM 1.24.0. This combined with big logos being added to Spotlight Featured Jobs on the homepage, means we’ll have to go-live with 1.23.13 for now.

Tried turning plugins off, instilling updates in different orders, but as soon as 1.24 runs the logos break.

The Featured Listings + Company Logo display issues are less extreme on Chrome than on Firefox & Safari, but the logos are too big to use. So we’ll just remove the Spotlight Featured job widget.

Opened a support ticket with Jobify, so perhaps they can help resolve some of this.

FYI, confirmed — for our installs, mind you — with both 1.24 & 1.23.13, Spotlight Featured Jobs remain Featured even after being marked “Filled”. Instructed users to de-select “Featured Listing” when marking jobs “Filled”. This is a viable work-around for the time being.

Not trying to be difficult here Mike, these issues came out of left-field, after everything working super smooth the last several months!

Hopefully Jobify will have some ideas.
    Thanks.

    Plugin Author Mike Jolley (a11n)

    (@mikejolley)

“Spotlight” is a feature in Jobify just so you know. WPJM itself doesn’t add this section.

    Thread Starter otable

    (@otable)

Yes, we’ve opened a ticket with them as well. The plugin and theme are so tightly integrated, it’s to know who to contact of support!

    Thank you!
