wp installed but will not upload media /files

    Hi, I wonder if someone can be of assistance. This is the message I get when I try to upload to my brand new WP installation
    ” Unable to create directory
    /home/dargle/public_html/wp-content/uploads/2011/11. Is its parent
    directory writable by the server?”
    It was uploaded directly from the cpanel.
