WP Installation not working on Fasthosts

    Hi,

    Having struggled with this all day I have finally accepted defeat and crying out for help.

    I installed WordPress manually, i.e. not the one click option they provide. If I go to the route of my site I get the error

    “500 – Internal server error.
    There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.”

    If I go to https://www.sitename.com/index.php I also get the same error.

    Yet I have loaded phpinfo.php and that displays correctly i.e. https://www.sitename.com/phpinfo.php

    I have installed WordPress many times on other hosting providers but this is the first time on Fasthosts. Note: this is on Windows hosting.

    2ninerniner2 – had a look at that but offered no clues but I finally resolved it myself, thanks for response anyway.

    I had pinpointed the error to when tried to connect to the database. I therefore created a simple test file to try the connect, i.e. outside of WordPress and that also failed.

    The issue was that Fasthosts recommends using PHP version 5.4, once I changed this to 5.2 it all worked ok. There are already some psots about 5.4 but to late to read them tonight!
