wp header images not working..saying header.php doesn’t exist

Any ideas?

I go to the setup and can add the images which I would like to show on each page. But when I click ‘how it works’ and get ‘steps to follow’ (about inserting some code into header.php), it tells me ‘this theme doesn’t exist’. I have a child theme set up however it has header.php as does the original theme.
