• I can make a WP Gallery with columns. No matter how many though, the gallery sets sizes as 100vw.
    That seems very inefficient, and no doubt crashes your google scores. Can’t it do better?

  • I’m not sure I get what you’re talking about.

    100vw means 100% of the viewport width… basically, the full width of the screen, which is a relative value for every device type, and not an absolute or fixed width.

    Why is this a problem or “inefficient”?

    If your gallery has 4 columns, then each pic needs 25% of the viewport width, not 100%
    This means if your screen is 4000px wide, and you have pic sizes 1000-4000px wide, it would choose 4x4000px = 160000px to display instead of 4x1000px.

    Is this a problem? Every page speed/load scorer thinks so.

    Is this just a problem with WP, that you can’t deal with anything with columns
