WP-Foro pinging?

    WordPress forum is managed and control by the WordPress itself. Internal there should be some mechanism to control the same.

    I noticed that WordPress disables pinging service and suggest ACTIVE UPDATE SERVICESO PLUGIN be downloaded and activated. My questions are is there any setting of the plugin after activation.
    Secondly how will I know the plugin is working.
