• Incompatible archive: PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signature

Just started happening last night and I’ve been searching for a fix for the last few hours and became unsuccessful, any help is appreciated.

  • I’ve got that from incomplete downloads of a .zip file. It can happen repeatedly if the web server of the site where you are downloading from is too busy and just aborts the download part way through.

Most download sites tell you how big the .zip file should be. Check it against what you’ve downloaded. And, if you are downloading directly to your web site, try downloading to your desktop, check the size and then try unzipping it on your own machine.

One of your theme zip files may indeed be corrupt. Try downloading it again, and putting it on your site. I had that type of problem when downloading the Theme Constructor theme. It indeed was corrupt. I notified the developer via his website, and he fixed it right away (he’s an ace!) – he said that the WP theme archive has some buggy processing that he ran into when uploading the theme to it.

If that doesn’t work… from the error message it also sounds like you might be unzipping the archive on the server. If so, you could try unzipping it on your own machine instead, then uploading via FTP.

If neither of those work, then I have no clue.

    Good luck, D

I unzipped it to my pc and it worked fine. It’s actually happening to 2 themes of mine.

I guess those 2 themes I downloaded are indeed corrupt but still extractable.
