In terms of which e-commerce plugins work with EDD, all of them do. I’m only aware of one minor conflict and that is with WooCommerce, though it’s avoidable. You can read about the minor conflict here: https://github.com/woothemes/woocommerce/issues/3100

We’re selling hard and softbound books, dvd’s and cd’s mostly.

If you are fine with simple shipping methods and no stock tracking, then you might consider using our Simple Shipping extension.

Otherwise having them both installed will work just fine.
