    I have 2 wp e-commerce sites. Basically they are the same sites but on different machines (same host). About a month ago we started encountering checkout problems with site #1. After the “purchase” buitton is clicked on the checkout page it takes some time before anything happens. You can see messages across the bottom of the browser including “waiting for secure connection.” Eventually the full checkout page reloads with no message or error. I have been able to replicate this while actual customers are on the phone after calling for help.

    When I did replicate this on site #1 and was taken back to the checkout page I was able to immediately go to site #2. I choose the exact same items and placed them in the cart. And then when I went through checkout everthing worked fine. So far this has worked every time!

    The big difference between the 2 sites is that site #1 has SSL. Site 2 does not (yet). Untill recently this was not an issue on either site. I am wondering if there is an SSL issue? Maybe site #1 ‘s checkout is unable to get the secure connection it needs. Or it times out before processing?

    I did update Site #1 to the latest version of Word Press (4.1), WP e-commerce (3.9.1), and Gold Cart (2.9.7.8) about 2 weeks ago to see if that might help. It didn’t. (Again this was happening on site #1 before I updated to the latest software updates)

    Site #2 is running Word Press (4.0), WP e-commerce (3.8.14.4), and Gold Cart (2.9.7.8). Both sites are running Twenty Fourteen theme.

    I have asked my hosting company for help. They checked numerous things including plugins and only found some settings that were wrong. HTTP to HTTPS setting changes. That was the end of last week. Unfortuantely its is still happening.

  • Can you check out in test mode? In stores setting under checkout, security and encryption. Do you have “Force users to use SSL Encryption” checked?
