• Hello,

I have seen a lot of plugins that let you display the wordpress entry on the sidebar, or the title of the post.

However, i wanted to know if it was possible to do the same, but instead in another website. I ask because, I have a website, and in a box I wanted to show the 5 most recent post made in my blog (WP), because to do it manually would take a really long time.

So i was wondering if anyone here might shed some light on how I can do this. Directing me to a tut or plugin would also be fine.

    Thanks in advance.

P.S I search google, but all i got was plugins to do this in wordpress itself.

  • You could take the RSS feed from your WP site and use it to display the most recent posts on another site. If that other site is also a WordPress site, you could use the built-in RSS widget to show those posts in the sidebar.

    Thanks for your reply.

However, its not a wordpress site, its just a normal website.

    Any way to do it?

Your best solution is probably going to involve using your WordPress site’s RSS feed. How you specifically use it depends on the technology powering your non-WordPress site.

    thanks for the reply, again.

When you say powering my non-Wordpress site do you mean something like

    PhP 5, MySQL, Apache 2.2?

if so, any where you can direct me, that would be give me a starting point?

What I mean is, are you using a CMS for your other site, such as Joomla, Drupal, etc.? They will have their own ways of displaying RSS feeds.

no my other site does not display rss feeds, or has nothing to do with the above mention. Its just a normal html site, with some page code.

However, taking your advice, i search for things that had to do with rss feeds. Luckily i found cg-feedread, with works in non-wordpress sites, i install it using a tut and it works fine. So now i can display the new blog post on my main site that has nothing to do with wordpress.

However, i dont know if anyone, or filosofo have heard of this cg-feedread before? if you have maybe you can give me some more help…

I got the feedread working, however, i cannot limit how many characters its shows.

I follow this tut in installing it —

Maybe someone can help me? i posted there too but the thread is like 1 year old, lol. (read the 6th comment from bottom to top, to read about my question.)

Again thanks for your replies and help filosofo.
