WP Dashboard compatibility issues

  • I have a site hosted by bluehost. Logged in to bluehost account and clicked “edit site”. WordPress launched and I got the following lines of text at the top of the page:

    I then clicked on Website Builder and it wouldn’t load. Contacted bluehost support and was told (after much time) it was a compatibility issue with the builder and the dashboard , said I could try web developer and then directed me to WP support, where I was told that, since my account was a free account, they couldn’t help me; unless I paid for a WordPress Live subscription and try the forums.

    Any ideas on how to fix this?

    I’m curious–do you have any plugins installed on that site? Perhaps try temporarily disabling them & see if the error persists. You can then begin reactivating them 1 by 1, starting w/the ones made by the WordPress community and testing after each try in order to find the culprit. I also suspect that the web builder & WordPress are mutually exclusive, meaning that you can use 1 or the other but not both for the same site. I’m not sure of that, because I don’t know all that much about Bluehost (as I provide hosting myself), but that’s what I suspect. You might need to reinstall WordPress w/o the website builder.

    To address the header error, you would need to turn on output_buffering within the site’s php.ini using cPanel > MultiPHP INI Editor > Editor Mode and add the following line:
    output_buffering = on

    To address the fread error, you may want to check your core files and run an update.
