wp-cron.php showing in server log

  • I noticed “wp-cron.php?doing_wp_cron” in the server log. I don’t know how to setup a cron job and can’t figure out why it’s showing up in the server log. What cron job is it running? I’ve had other versions of wordpress and this never showed in my server log. Any ideas why it’s there and how to turn off whatever job it’s running?

  • Most likely a plugin. Many plugins use cron jobs.

    This is a handy little plugin. It is developer oriented, but serves several purposes quite well. One of the modules included is a “Cron Module”.

    “This module is designed to allow you to view the WordPress Cron tasks which are currently scheduled to occur.”

    It may be an quick/easy way for you to identify what jobs are being run by wordpress, why, and how often. It may also shed some light on the version check, and update jobs that WordPress runs by default every day for you.
