• I recently had corrupted files in my server and upon cleaning them, my site was completely whacked and the only solution was to re-install WordPress via FTP. I’ve replaced the wp-config, .htaccess and wp-content files, fixed page errors and all that but my images are all missing. The media library also shows thumbnails to dead links and my wp-content/uploads folder doesn’t seem to have anything in it.

The backup i had locally is a uploads.tar file, to which when i extracted, only showed backups of images in the 2013 and 2014 folder. Anything after doesn’t seem to be backed up.

Is there any way that I can retrieve this by manually rolling back the database so I can backup the wp-content/uploads from before the re-install? Or is there any other solutions to restore the missing images? It’s a lot of missing content and I’ve spent 2 days trying my best to fix the problem without any luck. Would deeply appreciate any help from anybody! Thanks in advanced!

  • Hi @upandadrift,

Not sure your hosting have backup? Try to contact your hosting support?

Before anything more, remember full backup your site and download the full backup file first.

    Good luck. ??

    Best Regards,
    Tomas

I’ve managed to locate the back up of the all the content in the uploads folder in the FTP and placed it in the wp-content/uploads folder but it still doesn’t seem to show up on the website.

File permissions for the folder is set to 755.

Is there any other reason why the images are still not showing?
