WP Content Filter – New Plugin!
-
Hi, Just wanted to let people know I have released my first WordPress Plugin, WP Content Filter 1.0. It is compatible with the latest version of WordPress 2.7.1, and is designed to filter out any profanity (swearing to you and me!) and any other keywords specified on the Plugin options page.
You enter the keywords you want filter (remove) from your site in the Plugin admin options page (found under the settings menu). Then select which areas of your site you wish to filter content from. Available choices are: posts, post titles, post comments (recent comments sidebar is filtered too with this option), tags, tag cloud. There is also an option to filter your keywords using case sensitive, or case insensitive searching.
This is my first Plugin (first of many I hope!) and was really a test to see what was involved in creating a Plugin from start to finish. There was more to learn than I anticipated, as setting up the Plugin admin options page, and using the WordPress Subversion Repository took some time. The actual Plugin itself (i.e. the PHP coding) was up and running fairly quickly, it was just all the extra stuff having to be done for the first time slowed me up. ??
Hopefully next time round things will be much quicker, and as I have really enjoyed developing this Plugin I will definitely be looking to do more in the future.
