I work on quite a few WordPress sites and I keep seeing wp-config-sample.php reappear on the server. In the initial install I obviously rename this to just wp-config.php. Does anyone have any ideas why this file keeps getting recreated?!

Is it just being reuploaded in the update process?

  • the wp-config-sample.php is a core WP file. It is supposed to be in the root of your install. You don’t need to delete it, and it doesn’t effect anything. It can be recreated by a wp update.

Cool, thanks, I always assumed it was not supposed to be there so that’s helpful!

Glad I could help. Please mark as resolved if you are satisfied.
