    Hi,
I tried to fix my wp-config file. When I did, I got the installation screen, and wp installed itself again!?

I seem to have lost all of my posts. What have I done? Can it be undone?

    Please help!!!

  • That depends. Do you still have access to your old database? It sounds like you changed the database name or the table prefix in wp-config.php.

log in to your host’s phpmyadmin and see if the database is still there
if so, you’ll be ok by pointing to it in wp-config.php
you really shouldn’t have to mess with wp-config.php core elements after install
did you change the $table_prefix or database info? That’s about the only way it would install again

Oh crap, I think I accidently changed the table_prefix part…..

I was trying to do https://ocaoimh.ie/did-your-wordpress-site-get-hacked/ and add a secret key to the wp-config file ??

Am I SOL? I can’t remember what the table prefix was…

Have a look in your database. It may have been wp_.

I think it might have been something else; a string of other letters?

It is now wp_ but I vaguely have a snapshot in my mind of prefix being something that began with s and wasnt a word.

You guys are the best, by the way.

Is there a place to find it in my database info?

Use phpMyAdmin (or whatever MySQL management tool your host provides) to examine the database directly. You should be able to see a list of tables with 2 distinct prefixes.

I tried going back to the prefix ‘stlmkbl_’; which is what my mySQL has, but it didnt work ?? all the tables are there tho…
