wp-comments.php Parse Error

So i was editing the xhtml to stip wp right down and i got a parse error in the wp-comment.php. i uploaded the original which i had saved earlier in case something like this happend and i still get a parse error.

the wp-comment.php file during editing looks like this:

and the original file that i uploaded to try and fix the problem looks like this:

If anyone could tell me why why i get a parse error so i can fix it, i would be very greatful.
