WP Cerber column collations
-
Is there a safe way to change the wp_cerber_sets.file_name_hash and wp_cerber_sets.the_key column collations from ascii_general_ci to utf8mb4_unicode_ci? I tried the SQL commands:
ALTER TABLE
wp_cerber_files
MODIFYfile_name_hash
VARCHAR(255) CHARACTER SET utf8mb4 COLLATE utf8mb4_unicode_ci;and
ALTER TABLE
wp_cerber_sets
MODIFYthe_key
VARCHAR(255) CHARACTER SET utf8mb4 COLLATE utf8mb4_unicode_ci;However, in both cases I received a “Specified key was too long; max key length is 1000 bytes” error message from phpMyAdmin.
I’m trying to update my WordPress databases before migrating sites from a dedicated server running the MySQL 5.7 database server to one running MySQL 8.0.
Thank you for the advice,
Don
