    PLEASE HELP!

Just tried installing the WP-Cache plugin. But got the following message after doing so: wp-blog-header.php on line 18

I then deleted the plugin from the plugins folder using ftp hoping that would help but it wouldn’t.

    What have I done?!?

now i just tried uploading the new wordpress files in the hope that this would sort things out but now get this message:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: timer_start() in /home/fhlinux208/t/mysite.net/user/htdocs/blog/wp-admin/upgrade.php on line 7

    HELP

That sounds like a corrupted file or files not uploaded completely.

i uploaded the files from the wordpress site for 2.2.1 and uploaded them twice – the only folder I didn’t upload was the content folder

i couldn’t even deactivate the plugin before trying the upgrade as the blog stopped working as soon as I activated it!??!

Do i need to upload the content folder and if so, how do i get my custom theme back?!?

No, don’t touch the wp-content folder!
However, in the case of similar errors – chances are that the files were not uploaded correctly.
Files can get corrupted during the download, during the unzip, during the upload. I always suggest a fresh copy and try the upload again.
Oh, and deleteing a plugin via FTP should deactivate it.

still no luck – same error message – tried uploading the files 3 times now…

the problem with wp-cache is that is doesn’t fully deactivate when you merely delete the plugin directory
    because

    • it inserts define('WP_CACHE', true); //Added by WP-Cache Manager into your wp-config.php
    • it creates/changes wp-cache-config.php in wp-content
    • it creates a symbolic link to advanced-cache.php in wp-content

you have to undo those changes manually…..

Is this the site/blog linked to your profile? I don’t see any errors…

i just replaced the config.php file with an older version from a previous backup and it worked fine – thank god for backups…

    cheers for the replies

Good. Now you can tell I’ve never used that plugin ??

(can you mark this as resolved)
