    Hi

I have been emailing Jetpack’s Support staff and they are relying on your plugin for their post short URL’s. Now for over a week I have tried shutting off my theme and deactivating my plugin’s but have had no success.

The latest belief is that WP-Bitly isn’t updated for WordPress 3.8.1 for this feature. I was wondering is an update is rolling out soon. If anything can you guys contact wordpress’s Jetpack support for more details?

@wizastudios, my apologies for your lack of response on this subject. I’ve been out of the game for the past two years, pursuing another line of work. I realize this was a mistake now, and I’m returning to pick up where I left off if that’s possible.

This plugin will be one of my first projects for rehabilitation. Could you expound a little more on what your issue is? Are the two plugins conflicting in a way that causes erratic behavior?

    Hi

Well I spent some time with WordPress Jetpack support for a couple of weeks before my last post. It appears they rely of your plugin for sharing posts on Social Media. I have performed several test with my site and can’t seem to find the source of the problem.

What I’m trying to do is use the Jetpack plugin to share post on all available social media sites (facebook, twitter, tumblr and Google+). I want each shared post to contain my bitly short URL’s so I may track the clicks on bitly & Google Analytics.

Speaking with WordPress support they suspect WP-Bitly maybe out of date. I’m unsure if there is a conflict but so far it doesn’t post with the short URL’s.

I had no idea wp-bitly was in any way associated with Jetpack… I think what may be happening is it’s overriding Jetpack’s short link generator. I’ll have to look more closely at how they’re doing that, because back in the day I included some code to make sure WP Bit.ly didn’t collide with the WordPress.com statistics plugin.

I am working on rolling out an update right now that will bring it fully current with 3.8.1 – that’s my first goal prior to adding any new features to it.

Give me a few days! I’m not as fast at addressing issues due to my current employment, but I want to make sure your problem is resolved. I should have an update ready by this weekend.

Version 2.0 shouldn’t have any glaring conflicts with the Jetpack module. In fact, it quietly disables the module if it comes into contact with it; I intend to have future versions notify you, but I’m under the impression that if you install WP Bitly, chances are good you intend to use it in place of Jetpack’s module.

I’m going to mark this resolved unless I hear back from you that there’s any further issues. Feel free to also file new issues at https://github.com/mwaterous/wp-bitly/issues

    Thanks Mark,

It appears Jetpack has removed the Shortlink feature from its features. I’m testing out a few options today but I will update on the site fi I come across any issues.

@wizastudios, did you find a way to use bit.ly links with Jetpack (latest version)?

It should work with Jetpack. It’s assumed if you’re using WP Bitly that you don’t want to use the Wp.me shortlinks provided by the Jetpack module, so WP Bitly disables that module to avoid conflicts.

I’m having this same problem. When a new published post is automatically pushed to social networks connected through Jetpack, the post ID is the URL that’s used. That makes NO sense, as I have had custom permalinks setup since the very beginning. The bitly link was working when I first installed the plugin, but no longer recently.

    Any further guidance on this?

Same problem here. When using Jetpack’s Publicize to share posts at Twitter, only the (non-permalink) ID-URL is shared instead of the bit.ly-URL.

Before updating WP bit.ly from 1.0.1 to 2.x it worked fine.

Any updates on this? I’m experiencing the same issue as the two posts above.

If you require assistance then, as per the Forum Welcome, please post your own topic instead of tagging onto someone else’s topic.

I am now closing this 3 month old, resolved, topic.
