WP Bakery License Issue & Unable to Open ticket on their site!

Not sure if anyone else has had this problem. Client has WP Bakery Page Builder installed and it needs an update. She purchased a license literally a year ago. The error when attempting to update is:
“Update failed: Malformed URL: “key”” is required“
I’m thinking its a licensing issue. The problem is on the plug-in’s Product License page on the client site, I see:
“You have activated WPBakery Page Builder version which allows you to access all the customer benefits.”
On the plugin site it says once a license is purchase buyers get lifetime updates. But this client is unable to do so. So, if the client is unable to open a ticket on the developer’s web site to determine the true status of their already purchased license what else can be done? If anyone who’s had a similar experience (or anyone from WP Bakery) can reply I’d appreciate it.
