WP autoamtically downsizes LL my pics to 2MB size

  • Been using WP for my BLOG since 3 years. In the first years I could upload any image size up to 8MB.
    Since quite a few months I cannot do that any more. ALL my pictures are downsized to 2 MB in size automatically. They are no longer stored in full 4K (or whatever I chose) resolution.

    If I upload for example a file named “IMG_20200104_133004.jpg” with let′s say 5 MB in size and 4096 x 3000 pix resolution (numbers are just and example), it gets automatically stored as ?IMG_20200104_133004-scaled.jpg” with dimensions: 1280 × 2560
    Despite in my Media-settings I have set a much higher resolutions.

    Of course I know how to handle pictures etc etc etc etc – but I have a high-performance server and I WANT that some of my pictures are stored in FULL resolution.

    What can I do?
