    Hello,

For some reason when I try to update a plugin or update to the latest WordPress the system/pop up asks me for the ftp credentials in order to continue. Did I get hacked? This has never happened before. I have always been able to update plugins and WordPress without having to issue these credentials. Here is a screen recording to better convey my issue. Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Hi @tvprem,

I’m unable to see the video, but I think you’re describing this message?

In this case, can you edit .htaccess or .user.ini and remove the following similar lines?

    AuthType Basic
    AuthName "Something"
    require valid-user

If it’s not there, can you disable all your plugins and see if the message still appears? It’s possible that a plugin is adding authentication to one of your pages.

The link above didn’t work for you? I wonder why. You should be able to click on the link then click play on the vidyard video. . hmm. But anyhow, thank you so much for your response. I figured it out. Our server was completely full and after we cleared some space the system/popup stopped appearing.
