WP and MySQL Connections

    Does WP use Persistent Connections by default? If so, is there a way to disable it? Thanks.

    The actually connect to mysql happens in /wp-includes/wp-db.php
    I only see mysql_connect() functions in the code. There are no mysql_pconnect() functions so I would assume there are no persistent connections. I’m referring to version 1.0.1/1.0.2.
