• I had to setup WP for a cyrillic alphabet based site for the first time and here are the problems I stumbled upon.

    1. When I’m uploading a picture with filename in cyrillic (пример.jpg), the name doesn’t show up in the WP gallery and on the server the file is saved with some really weird name. Of course the image shows as 404 in WP.

    2. The URLs in cyrillic show up in the source like that:
    “b8/%d0%bb%d0%b8%d1%80%d0%b0-%d0%b7%d0%b0-%d0%b1%d0%b0%d0%bd%d1%8”

    3. The URLs in the address bar of IE, show up the same ugly way ( they are fine in Chrome and Firefox though)

    4. The last language file i found for bulgarian was 2.8 and when i set it, the admin panel started to give an error for insufficient memory.

    Thank you! ??

As i understand, the first 3 are considered to be “normal” and there is no fix for them? Is that right?

hmmm, I have a similar problem, when I change the wp-interface-language to russian, it crushes and does not want to log in using russian. Other languages work. The posting and reading cyrillic alfabet works well, also the site-language. Only the interface russian does not work when just copying all actual russian language files. any help?
I tried to change the language using the qtranslate or wp-native-dashboard plugin (separately or together), I tried it on more sites, localy and remotely. ??

    wp: 3.2.1
    systems: ubuntu-maverick, debian-wheezy, win7
