    Hi!

I’m trying to achieve a thing that seems simple but I’m not able to make it with the majority of the importers, like wp all import

So I wanted to ask you if it is possibile with your plugin!

Pratically we use optimole and images are hosted in a third party server, so I need NOT TO CHANGE images URLs in a website migration.

It seems that every plugin on earth forces you to change image urls from the original to destination website…

Will you plugin have any option to avoid this behaviour?

    thank you!

It’s possible I don’t fully understand your workflow here, but I’ll give it a try.

If you’re using the .csv import method, it will import exactly what’s in the .csv file. So if your .csv contains the third party image links, they will remain the same upon importing. However, if Optimole typically rewrites the image URLS after you upload an image, I’m not sure how you would get those to show up in the Media Library after your migration.

When setting up your import, there is a “Media Handling” step where you have to explicitly choose whether to download external images to your Media Library. This is disabled by default. I’m not sure if that’s the option you would need. You might want to test that out with a .csv containing just a few of your posts.

    Hi there,

    Thank you for reaching out!

It sounds like you want to keep external image URLs intact during your website migration, and you’re concerned about how image URLs are handled by importers.

    To clarify:

Post Content Images: To import images from external URLs into your post content, simply include these URLs in your CSV file. Our plugin will import the URLs exactly as provided, so third-party image links will remain unchanged in your post content.

Featured Images: WordPress does not natively support setting external URLs as featured images. However, you can use the FIFU (Featured Image from URL) plugin to handle external image URLs for featured images. FIFU allows you to manage external image URLs and set them as featured images.

If you decide to use FIFU, please ensure it is properly configured to work with your external image URLs. If you need any assistance or have further questions, feel free to reach out. We’re here to help!

Thank you ! I will make a first test simply using the CSV and see if they stay consistent in the output!

For the featured image I will give a check to that FIFU plugin you mentioned
