• Okay so I just bought Linux hosting from 1and1.com bought a domain name, and everything is “ready”.

I downloaded the latest version of wp and uploaded it on my root directory.

I created a MySQL, and took all the info and put in the wp-config-sample.php file, then saved it to a wp-config.php file like its asking me to do.

Then i went on mysite.com/wp-admin/install.php and what came up was “The page cannot be found”

I have created many wp sites with 1and1.com and it worked, im not sure what I’m doing wrong. Did I miss a step? Should I use an older version of wp?

I really need to get this site up and running…I used MySQL 4.0 should maybe switch 5.0 for this version.

I used ipswitch WS_FTP professional to upload my wp to my root directory. Is it maybe not sending all the files through? I checked w/ dreamweaver if my install file was okay, and it seemed okay. All code was there.

    MAN I GOTTA HEADACHE! ??

  • It seems to me that either you are having trouble with DNS or you have a problem with your upload. Installing WordPress really isn’t that hard, you could just run the install again. Make sure that your files are all going in the right spot. If you aren’t seeing anything when you go to your website, the problem isn’t anything with WordPress, but with your DNS or installation location.

okay, according to my host the domain name is “ready”. But maybe it still needs some time. i did see this on my control panel: mydomainname.com with(DNS) marked next to it, but on my previous project the “DNS” sign wasnt next to my domain name in the control panel.

I tested my domain name with a simple index.htm file inside the root directory and it uploaded fine on the browser. Should I create a new directory for my domain name, then upload all the wp stuff?

But yeah, im sure it has nothing to do with wordpress. I just signed up for this hosting plan 24 hours ago, and switched to linux like 15 hours ago…i guess i just need some patiens.
