    Hello,

Sorry to bother, but I cannot figure this out on my own. I will give history so someone can hopefully tell me my error. We had originally set up the site with wp and had chosen a theme to use. The theme wasn’t working the way we wanted and I uploaded another one to try. After activating that theme, I went in through FTP and deleted the old theme as I had heard that it could create conflicts. Anyways, after deletion, I couldn’t access wp-admin. I figured that I might have accidentally deleted an important file along with the old theme. I went in and removed wp through control panel and used Fantastico to reload it. Still had problems logging in and then realized that I hadn’t deleted the database associated with the old theme and the new upload of wp didn’t have one associated. Therefore I went in and removed wp again and then went in and deleted the old db. After that I re-uploaded (with Fantastico) wp again and it created the db as normal.

I went to the wp-admin page and was able to log in. I worked on the site all day and then logged out. Instead of it brining me back to the “https://www.b4ugoreviews.com/wp-login.php?loggedout=true” page it took me directly to the coming soon plugin we’re using. When I tried to access the “https://www.b4ugoreviews.com/wp-login.php” page, it keeps bringing me to the coming soon plugin page.

I went in through FTP and removed the coming soon plugin as I thought maybe it was throwing up problems. I then tried again. This time it brought me to the login page of the actual site. I am totally unable to reach the wp-admin in any fashion.

I have tried renaming the plugin folder and then accessing, no luck.
I re-uploaded the coming soon plugin and the renamed, no luck.
I have read many posts regarding not accessing wp-admin, but none seem to address the particular problem I am facing. After reading one of the posts, I also went into the db and changed the site url and then the home url. No luck.

I pray that someone will be able to help me and truly appreciate your assistance.

    Thank you,
    Jane

  • please let us know what error login page throws , invalid username, wrong password or something else.

you can reset password if that is a issue.

else disable all plugins by renaming plugin folder via FTP , then try to login again.

That’s just it. It doesn’t throw any errors, instead of it allowing me to reach the admin sign in page, it just brings up the websites sign in page or if the plugin is activated, it’ll pull the coming soon plugin.

    Thanks,
    Jane

rename active theme folder and plugin folder via FTP . it should switch to default theme and probably allow you to login.

also did the plugin you using , did it gave you a admin login URL? may be it is somewhere else?

I see a modified login here:

    https://www.b4ugoreviews.com/login/

Your site also shows this code:

<!– This website is patched against a big problem not solved from WordPress 3.3+ to date –>

do you know what that means?

Yes, I can do as suggested to see if it’ll let me log in. As for the plugin, no, it is Verde plugin and offered no other login.

I’ve not seen that code before. After the Fantastico installed WP and I went to admin side, it showed that there was an update available and I clicked update now. That’s all I know. It stated that I was using v 4.1.1.

What would your suggestion be for me to do next. Even if I can login that way, it doesn’t totally solve the issue as the directory theme is the one that we are needing to use.

    Thank you for your time,
    Jane

I’d suggest renaming your active theme (not the entire themes folder) – so WP will use a default theme. And also make sure your plugins folder is also renamed to plugins.hold

Yes, when I changed the names of the theme folders, it allowed me to log in. Should I try to reinstall the themes themselves? I had uploaded them through the wp-admin install feature. I can do it through FTP if you think that would help?

    Thanks again,
    Jane

I did, only the active themes.

I now get a white screen – do you have a default theme in there ? You need Twenty Fifteen or one of the others in the themes folder – NOT renamed.

The default themes are in there, I apologize, I forgot to activate it. Please look now and see.

    Thanks,
    Jane

Okay, so can you login here?

    https://www.b4ugoreviews.com/wp-login.php

As to the other theme, what theme is it and where did you get it?

    Thread Starter janebohannon

    (@janebohannon)

The other theme is Vantage and the child theme to it, Directory. I purchased theme from the site https://www.appthemes.com. I just purchased late Thursday afternoon.

So you CAN login with Twenty Fifteen active?

    Thread Starter janebohannon

    (@janebohannon)

Yes, I can log in with the twenty-fifteen active.

Okay, so now with the plugins off, switch to the new theme.
