• Hi. Since upgrading to HTTPS, and editing the siteurl and home values in wp_options from http to https, every time I login from /wp-login.php and redirect to /wp-admin, I receive the error:

“Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page.”

If I create a new admin user from scratch in phpMyAdmin, I receive the same symptoms.

If I rename /wp-content/plugins to /wp-content/plugins.temp, the issue remains.

If I place the active child and parent themes in /wp-content/themes.temp, the issue remains.

One other change I made was to change the siteurl and home values in wp_options and the primary site domain in wp_blogs to www.example.com instead of example.com. This did not break the site though, it was only the edits above to https which broke the site.

    Help appreciated.

  • I’ve got the same problem. However, I haven’t upgraded to https but I did upgrade wordpress some time ago. I’ve just noticed this problem and because I don’t normally log in through wp-admin I don’t even know when it happened exactly. I also deactivated themes, plugin, repaired the database but nothing seems to help.
The more annoying thing that the site pagination is broken too along with my backup plugin.

I’m also seeing this problem when upgrading to SSL. Cannot access any page in the admin with an existing or new user. Disabling all plugins does nothing.
