Just installed my first ever attempt at WordPress v3.0 and all was going really well…

gave all the db info and such and the installation took no time at all, but it has left me scratching my head.

wp-admin is there and functions fine, but the actual site is just a blank white screen.

I am guessing the connection is ok since the admin side is there, and I have tried to install new themes but they result in blank screens too.

I had a scan of the forums but can only find it talked about where an upgrade has been performed, and this is a clean install.

Any help or pointers really very much appreciated,

    thanks in advance.

    Johnny

There is probably an index.html or home.html file in the same directory as the WordPress index.php file. Remove the index.html or home.html file, either via FTP or your hosting provider’s file manager, and all should be fine.

I like your thinking, but nope, no other index or home file, it is a clean install of 3, so nothing exists in htdocs bar the WP 3 files.

Can you think of anything else?

    thanks

Try decativating all plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the Default theme (WordPress 2.9) or the Twenty Ten theme (WordPress 3.0) to rule-out a theme-specific issue.

    HI there,

I have no plugins installed (deleted them in case they were causing isssues, but to no avail.

I am not sure if this is a clue, but if I preview any theme I just get a blank space open up?

I only have the twenty ten theme left now, having removed the others I had installed.

am thinking about deleting the lot and starting over… ??

That may be the only solution. Let’s try a less drastic version of that first.

Download WordPress again and delete then replace your copies of the /wp-admin/ and /wp-includes/ directories with fresh copies from the download.

ok, I’ll do that now and report back…

thanks for your help, much appreciated ??

    ok, well reporting back….

It worked! ?? Re-uploaded both those directories and bingo! ??

Thanks for your help with that, was starting to lose heart.

    Cheers

    You’re welcome!

Thats not a solution. Does any one has the cause of this issue with a proper solution?
