wp-admin remove the subfolder URL

@kevinpy: It sounds to me as if your Site Address (URL) is set to https://sub.domain.com/subfolder but your WordPress Address (URL) is set to https://sub.domain.com/ (both of these are configured under the Settings → General screen).

(Note, however, that you wouldn’t want to simply change the latter URL if your WordPress files are actually stored in that location.)
