wp-admin redirecting to wp-login loop…tried almost everything

  • Hi guys,

    Have searched the forums but not finding any joy. As of yesterday i can’t seem to get past wp-login as it keeps re-directing to itself.
    my admin login is adonpedia.com.au/wp-admin, but after I enter my username and pw it re-directs to /wp-login.php and stays there.

    I have tried the following:

    – deleted .htaccess file and nothing
    – changed my /plugins directory to /plugins_temp, in order to disable all my plugins but still the redirection
    – one-by-one went through my plugins via ftp, renamed each one to ‘_temp’ but still could not get past /wp-login.php?redirect_to=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.adonpedia.com.au%2Fwp-admin%2F&reauth=1
    – Have tried to update my wp-config.php, but no result
    – tried to update functions.php in the current theme, but again no joy.
    – logged into myPHP admin, went into the databases to manually update the url, but the url was already correct

    Anyone have any other suggestions I can try other than a clean install from a backup?

  • Have you checked with your hosting company?

    Have you tried deactivating ALL plugins and switching to the default theme?

    WPyogi, I painstakingly went through each plugin but no joy. I renamed the /plugins folder first, and after that didn’t work I went through and disabled each one one-by-one.

    Switching themes didn’t work either so I’ll your suggestion and speak to our hosting co.
