    Hi guys and girls.

This is my first ever post and I was wondering if someone could be so kind to help me. With two issue which are related.

I apologize if their is a topic on this that has been resolved before but i cant seem to find one relating to my problem.

I own a few websites i bought through godaddy. I host my domains through evohosting.

I decided to set up my first domain that I bought through godaddy a week ago. Then I decided to do a second one today and they both have had the same issue.

When I log into godaddy I change the servers over to evohosting. Then in my cpanel account i set up a sub domain for the domain in question and then I go and install wordpress through softaculous. When I click on my wp-admin page i get the domain address and then this at the end of the address /not_found/ . All I see is wordpress basic theme and no login page.

Now this happened today with a domain.

A week ago I encountered this problem and found a article on the web (https://vlexo.net/blog-tips-tricks/not-found-issue-when-accessing-wp-admin-for-wordpress/) which said I needed to install a .htaccess file to root of domain folder. I did this through filezilla and it worked I was able to see my login page and login and modify my new site.

But since that happened several days later something strange happened, when I went to login in at this point i must mention that I had changed my wp-admin to a different ending, the login page showed up, i typed my username and password in and instead of gaining access to my wordpress account for my site it displayed my homepage. Off course on my homepage I had a plugin showing that I was down for maintenance.

Is there something else i need to do in godaddy?

My hosting company thinks and they quoted ‘After doing some research, this appears to be a bug in WordPress for NON-admin users.’ contact wordpress they said. Evo hosting have checked my site and it is actually using the correct name servers and isn’t reporting any errors when they do a DNS report.

Would great if someone could help me.

    Regards Alex

  • This is NOT a WordPress bug – although I have to say that this is typical of GD support who constantly blame WP instead of actually investigating the issues at their end. I suggest you go back to them about this. It has nothing to do with WordPress.

Hi esmi thanks for your reply, sorry the advice I got was from evo hosting who are my hosting provider, godaddy just hold my domains in there account.

Do you have any suggestions as to the problem evohsting seemed to not be able to solve the issue.

Yhe issue I have mentioned does seem to be a reaccuring problem on the forums do you have any practical solution.

    Thanks Alex.

It’s not one I have seen before and I have seen quite a few topics. ??

How are you using the GD domain on your site? Have you updated the name servers at GD?

Yes I have, evohosting have checked my site and it is actually using the correct name servers and isn’t reporting any errors when they do a DNS report.

Sorry im sure youve seen a few topics in your time whats your thought on this article I cam across about resolving the issue (https://vlexo.net/blog-tips-tricks/not-found-issue-when-accessing-wp-admin-for-wordpress/).

I tried this on the first domain I had with Godaddy and it seemed to work for a day or two then twice since then ive gone to login and when I do I get pinged to my homepage instead of wordpress admin area for the site.

The fist time it happened I upload the .htaccess file again from the article I came across and it worked but then it happened this morning again and I thought I cant keep uploading the .htaccess file every time it happens.

evohosting have checked my site and it is actually using the correct name servers and isn’t reporting any errors when they do a DNS report.

When exactly did you make the name server changes? Were you aware that it can take up to 72 hours for these changes to fully propagate?

whats your thought on this article I cam across about resolving the issue

That’s specifically to do with permalinks. Have you reviewed Using_Permalinks? Was the .htaccess file on your site updated?

Many thanks, for your help but I think ive solved the issue for the time being.

It related to clashes with my .htaccess file in my main directory and sub directories.

    Take care Alex.
