• My site, https://www.maple-news.com, is the top news site for the online MMORPG MapleStory. In mid-November we were hacked after our host’s security system was compromised. The data center they use did not restore our back ups until 3-5 days after we were first hacked, and because of this we could not restore a version of the site before it was hacked. A month later, we were hacked again. This time, our host found malicious files on our server and removed them. It was then that our wp-admin folder stopped working.

I have tried reinstalling the wp-admin folder several times, disabling all plugins through the FTP, disabling the theme, and nothing seems to work. Our host suggested we create a new WordPress install and move our database to that installation…but that goes beyond my area of expertise and they are not willing to help with the import. I’m at my wits end here and the 4 years of blood, sweat, and tears myself and others put into building our site in to what it is today is in danger of being lost.

Any support anyone could offer would be of huge help.

    Thank you!

  • Do you have access to PHP myadmin? Look through your host’s control panel. maybe Cpanel, Plex and so forth. PHPMyadmin will have all the tools needed to back up your database. It also has the tools to import your database once you switch over. Hope this helps.

Just a random thought. By not working do you mean you get redirected or get a 404 error? Can you get to the login page for wp-admin? A hacker might have messed with your htaccess file to keep you from getting into the admin section.

https://www.maple-news.com/wp-admin is taking me to your WordPress login page.
