WP ADMIN – Can’t select database

  • Hi Friends, need your urgent support.

    I recently went to a “Can’t select database” error in wp-admin. The Front end of my site shows : “Error establishing a database connection”

    Complete error at wp admin page :

    Can’t select database
    We were able to connect to the database server (which means your username and password is okay) but not able to select the u217713781_wp2 database.

    Are you sure it exists?
    Does the user u217713781_user2 have permission to use the u217713781_wp2 database?
    On some systems the name of your database is prefixed with your username, so it would be like username_u217713781_wp2. Could that be the problem?
    If you don’t know how to set up a database you should contact your host. If all else fails you may find help at the WordPress Support Forums.

    I didn’t do anything recently (no new plugins installed, no updates). Still, i donot know why i m getting this error. I have checked my Database and wp_config.php file. Everything is fine (database username, password, database name, etc.).

    I do not know what to do, please help!!!!

  • Have you contacted your hosts about this? It sounds like a server issue.

    I wonder if this is a privileges issue. Have you checked if user u217713781_user2 has all privileges? You can check that through phpMyAdmin

    @alichani,yes i have checked permission fo the above database user. All items were marked as ?.

    Is there any other way to check it???
