WP adding -2 to perma link in page

    Hi – I am trying to rename url permalink in the page editor.

    /keyword but when I do it adds /keyword-2

    I dont see a duplicate page (even in trash)
    I have look in DB options – no other pages using that URL link

    It is the only one and murphie’s law the most important,
    I dont want to add url 301 because the site is do well in google.

    What I am I missing?

    It could also be a Post with that slug. The first place I would go to investigate is the post_name column of the wp_posts table of the WordPress database. Hopefully you have easy access to phpMyAdmin.

    Thank you – that solved it – it was not a post but a page.
    the issue was that the home page link I could not see or edit in WP as it was a home page link.

    But in post_name (slug) it was there,
