WP About Author: Two word user name gets hyphenated

The MORE POSTS link uses the author’s user name but then the code adds a hyphen between the name if it is a two word name which then means the author link does not take you to the author page.
Is there a fix for this?
[I did not know that WP creates author pages for that matter or do I need a plugin to do that?]
