• Hello,

I just upgraded WordPress from 5.6.3 to 5.7.1.
I noticed that the Visual Editor now uses its monospaced fonts. Is there a way to get the old font settings back? My theme does not use monospaced fonts and I would like to keep WYSIWYG effect when creating/editing posts.

    Thanks

If you’re seeing a monospace font, that sounds more like you’re using the code editor instead of the visual editor.

First, at Users > Profile in your site’s Dashboard, make sure that “Disable the visual editor when writing” is not checked.

If it’s not checked, when writing or editing a post, click the three vertical dots at the top-right and make sure that “Visual editor” is selected. Here’s an annotated screenshot: https://d.pr/i/UcjprX

If it is selected, this may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and switch to the default Twenty Twenty-One theme. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of the problem.

If you can install plugins, install Health Check. On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins and change the theme for you, while you’re still logged in, without affecting normal visitors to your site.

    James,

thank you for your reply. Sorry, it’s not monospace font. I’ve found the following upgrade note for 5.7:

New System Font for the Block Editor (+ Gutenberg)

In addition, the block editor got a new font. Previously, it had used a Google Font (Noto Serif), but it now uses system fonts by default.

Is this possible to get back Noto Serif as a default system font for Gutengerg?

    Thanks

Not exactly. This is the editor’s new default font, so it’s not loading a font from Google each time anymore.

However, if your theme provides an editor style sheet (like the Twenty Twenty-One theme, for example), the editor will appear exactly how the front of the site appears, fonts and all.
