WP 5.5 Dashboard laggy, menus not working

  • Dashboard Menus lag or don’t pop-out when rolled over. Screen Options doesn’t work at all, experiencing this on 4 sites I’ve upgrade to 5.5 so far.

  • This is a symptom we’ve seen of having older plugins that rely on jquery-migrate, that was removed in WP 5.5.
    You can try the Helper plugin to see if that is the case for you.

    Thank you, I did that but it doesn’t help me with these issues, it just tells me where the Jquery is deprecated (the theme and a Geotarget plugin)

    Now I know not to upgrade my other sites, I don’t have time for this.

    Are you referring to the “Enable jQuery Migrated” plugin mentioned above? I ask because the plugin doesn’t say if jQuery is deprecated. All it does is enable jQuery Migrate which v5.5 no longer enables by default.

    Yes, I know how to do all that. My point is I shouldn’t have to after a WordPress upgrade. Everything was fine pre-5.5

    And the point of this Support area is to Help people. This is not the Complaint area.

    Although a solution has been given to the problem you stated you still haven’t replied as to whether it was used and if it helped.

    It helped with a few issues but overall no, this update has broken a significant part of the functions in WordPress even after installing this plugin and deactivating offending plugin (Geotarget) identified by the “Enable jQuery Migrated” plugin.

    I think we can all agree that v5.5 has some issues and we either use something else or fix what we have.
