We recently updated both Yoast and WP, and now we can’t access our “Pages” area at all (everything else seems fine, e.g. we can access the “Posts” area).

I’ve tried installing Enable jQuery Migrate Helper as a temp workaround but it didn’t help.

I’ve also run the Health Check & Troubleshooting troubleshooter, and even with the default TwentyTwenty theme and nothing but Yoast enabled, the same issue happens. So I’m not sure it is a conflict with another plugin or a theme…

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi @cjbsadmin,

Sorry to hear you’re having a problem. Can you describe or send us a link to screenshot that shows us what appears when you go to the Pages screen? If it’s blank, can you check the page source and let us know if anything appears?

Also, we recommend checking your server PHP error logs to see if there are any errors related to Yoast SEO when you visit the pages screen. You can enable WordPress debugging or contact your hosting provider for more information.

Hi Priscilla! Basically it just whirrs, then after about 2 mins, we get a 502 message (we’re hosted on WP Engine, who I think kill processes after 2 mins).

I’ve had a look at the error logs, and there’s nothing in there that coincided with the times I was trying to access Pages I’m afraid.

Sorry, that’s not very helpful! Just wanted to flag as I saw other people were having similar issues and thought you might find it useful to know that even with the default theme and only Yoast enabled, the bug was still happening.

    Hi @cjbsadmin,

Thank you for your reply and for giving us extra info.

Can you confirm that you have a big amount of pages with or without a lot of metadata? We know that our QA and development team are investigating a bug report where getting the list of pages where the author is the same that can lead to memory issues. As you describe this, you might be suffering from this bug.

The issue is tracked and currently investigated on Github here: https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/issues/16027.

A temporary workaround would be to downgrade to 14.8.1 as this is a new bug introduced in our current release. You can downgrade the plugin by downloading it at the bottom of the advanced view of our plugin page here. We apologize for this and are currently looking into the scope of the bug.

Hi Jeroen. That’s correct, we have over 2.7k pages. Thanks for the info, we’ll rollback for now!

    Hi @cjbsadmin,

Thank you for confirming. Sorry for the bug. We do have it on our radar and will hopefully include a fix in an upcoming release soon. Thank you for your patience.

Hi Yoast team, just to let you know, we upgraded to 15.2 and the issue is no longer occurring (i.e. we can load Pages again) – thanks very much for the fix!
