• Since upgrading to WordPress 4.5 i’ve lost the ability to post text, images and featured images are fine, just the text isn’t showing.

We are just about to start marketing our website aggressively and this happened, as you can image its very infuriating.

Thanks for your time and effort

  • Same problem for me

We are getting a similar issue in 4.5 but manifests itself slightly differently.

open new post page and writing images all work fine but after saving as draft or publishing when the page reloads the text disappears from visual clicking the text tab and back to visual it reappears in a very odd format which you can type to but changes are not saved when hitting publish or save as draft.

The only way round it we have found thus far is to view the post be it draft or published and then hit edit again and it returns to normal and repeats as above.

    our site is https://thewhiteisle.co.uk

To update the release of 4.5.1 does not solve this problem.

Any solutions to this?? I’m having the same problem, haven’t tried putting in images yet but any text I write is disappearing when I Save Draft. Word Count goes to 0 in the editor, although when I click Preview there is an older version of the post displayed, weirdly. Obviously can’t work like this but no idea what the issue is?

    Hi Jessica,

The only way round it we have found is to save draft then look at the preview version of the page and click edit again from their.

Changing anything once it is draft state on the original page doesn’t then save sadly.

Annoying but workable just have to remember to draft, preview, edit each time.

    Tristan

Thanks Tristan but I’ve managed to resolve. I cleared my browser cache and cookies which kinda got rid of the save problem, but created a whole new problem where any text typed in the edit box was invisible and all my formatting buttons were gone, so it was impossible to even try to draft anything. I tried a million different things to resolve, but I think that installing TinyMCE and Java was the thing that finally worked. I had previously uninstalled Java cos I thought I had only downloaded it in the first place for something else, and I didn’t need it any more and was sick of the constant update pop-ups, so just got rid, and I think this may have caused the initial problem. After installing TinyMCE (and Use Google Libraries) and reinstalling Java, as well as clearing my cache and cookies one last time, all seems to be working fine again now.

Thank you for the info jessica i will give it a try and see where i get.
