WP 4.8.1 visual editor broken since update

My visual editor has not worked correctly since the 4.8.1 upgrade.

Firstly I get the

Failed to load content css: https://www.echoesofauburn.com/wp-includes/js/tinymce/skins/wordpress/wp-content.css?ver=4.8.1

warning, which I understand can be ‘closed’ and life should go on based on answered posts in this forum. So I figure I’ll trouble shoot that one at a later date as this seems to be a ‘theme’ related issue, even though I use twentyseventeen, which WP is the developer.

Secondly, I have several invisible buttons (read more tag and toolbar toggle). (see attached pict)

Thirdly, the link and unlink functions, when clicked, force the page down to the bottom of the scroll, without any area to add the link, or unlink. And when in this state, if I scroll back up to the text editor, it forces itself back down to the bottom of the scroll.

Lastly, any added images into the post show up in the editor, but only show up as ? when viewing page, including featured image.

Troubleshooting tasks: Deactivated all plugins. Switched themes to twentysixteen, and two other themes. Disabled/flushed all caches. Used Firefox, Chrome, and Safari. Regarding images, I have visited the URL directly for said images and they loaded OK.

Also, regarding warning message, I am able to browse directly to https://echoesofauburn.com/wp-includes/js/tinymce/wp-tinymce.php where I receive the page full of text.

Nothing I have done to this point have repaired any of the above issues.
